A Life Deferred is a portrait of America hurdling toward authoritarianism, and the dread that permeates everyday American life during such drastic change. It’s about the helplessness that settles in when those with the fewest protections are the first to be targeted, leaving everyone else to wonder who’s next.

I began writing A Life Deferred to reflect that helplessness. As a white man who’s afforded great privilege, I too often feel powerless amid the current state of things. I wondered what I would do if someone close to me was affected by injustice. Specifically, how would I react if an ICE raid targeted someone in my community. A Life Deferred seeks to answer that question.

I want A Life Deferred to be a testament to these times, and I hope it inspires others to change their perspective on issues that affect us.

If you believe that A Life Deferred is a story that deserves to be told, then please follow this page and pre-order. The manuscript as it stands is one-quarter finished, and you can view it under the READ tab. But due to COVID-19, I’ve been in the same boat as many others, writing and pounding out pages to pass the time. I anticipate that at this current pace, the full manuscript will be here by mid-summer.

Thank you for visiting, and I hope you enjoy your stay!
