HI Nathalie!  Just saw this now from the follower message.  This is what I've been doing:  Harassing everyone I know, over and over and over.  It's only 5 bucks.  It's only 5 bucks.  C'mon, it's only 5 bucks.  Eventually people break down and do it.  Will you get 1000 orders that way?  Of course not, unless you know a ridiculous amount of people.  But it can at the very least start to give you some confidence.  Those people can share your project, and maybe get a couple more people.

The 1000 preorder hurdle is massive, for sure.  And even if you don't hit the goal, you'll have created some buzz, and you can send an update to your followers saying that the project here didn't work, but you can find the novel over at Amazon and give the link.

Those are my 2 cents.  I'm lucky that I'm in the Nerdist competition, so my hurdle isn't 1000 preorders, it's to be in the top 5 at the end of September.  But I think the philosophy is solid.

Good luck!

Dear readers, thanks for showing some interest in my books. I seriously have no idea how inkshares is ever going to work for me, though. Last month, I sold nine books on Amazon. How on earth am I supposed to get a thousand people to pre-order my books? It's never going to happen. In theory, I could upload the entire trilogy (and the fourth book in a couple of weeks) for people to see that I'm serious. And that the books are finished. But when I uploaded the entire "Combat Fatigue" novel, I got zero feedback. Do you think I should continue? I would love to hear from you, because quite honestly, I'm clueless! Nathalie
