A Collection of Love Poems is a children’s book that will A collection of love poems written by my grandfather, Sidney Rosenblum, who passed away this year. He was born in Hamburg, Germany on January 17, 1926. He emigrated to the U.S with his family on the Aquitania, the last boat allowed out of Germany in the fall of 1938. When he was 17, he returned to Europe, serving as an American soldier in the European and Rhineland regions in WWII, where he earned a bronze star for courage in battle. After the war, Sid met the love of his life, Lillian, on Far Rockaway Beach, New York, and he married her on February 3, 1951 - a love that endured for 63 years. To his children, their spouses, his grandchildren, and the many people whose lives he touched in his 88 years, Sid was known for his sense of humor, his generosity of spirit, and high ideals. But it was not until his passing they learned that he was a true romantic, as embodied in many poems and essays written for Lillian and lovingly preserved over the years. This brief collection was assembled by Sid’s granddaughter, Raissa. It is meant as a lasting tribute to a man who treasured his family above all else, so his true spirit and passion for life and love can be known for generations to come.
